Gem Version Build Status

ConstructorShortcut

Syntax sugar gem used to generate class-level alias for the constructor.

Before:

class CallableServiceObject
  extend Dry::Initializer

  param :foo

  def call
    foo * 2
  end

  # Needs to be repeated in every service object or exist in base class of all hierarchies
  class << self
    def call(*args)
      new(*args).call
    end
  end
end

CallableServiceObject.new(1).call

After:

class CallableServiceObject
  extend Dry::Initializer
  # Similar to `extend ConstructorShortcut[:call, :call]`
  extend ConstructorShortcut

  param :foo

  def call
    foo * 2
  end
end

CallableServiceObject.call(1)

Additionally:

class CallableServiceObject
  extend Dry::Initializer
  extend ConstructorShortcut[:call, :[]]

  param :foo

  def call
    foo * 2
  end
end

CallableServiceObject[1]
