GithubUrl
A small ruby gem for parsing Github URLs
Installation
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
gem 'github_url'
And then execute:
$ bundle
Or install it yourself as:
$ gem install github_url
Usage
Initializing a GithubUrl
url = GithubUrl.new(url: 'https://github.com/GalvanizeOpenSource/github_url/blob/master/lib/github_url.rb')
Initializing a GithubUrl using a specific default branch
url_with_branch = GithubUrl.new(url: 'https://github.com/GalvanizeOpenSource/github_url/blob/master/lib/github_url.rb', default_branch: 'branch-besides-master')
Initializing a GithubUrl using an override host
url_with_host = GithubUrl.new(url: "https://git.sum.enterprise.org/peterparker/web", host: "git.sum.enterprise.org")
Getting the organization
url.organization
# GalvanizeOpenSource
Getting the repository
url.repository
# github_url
Getting the branch (will default to master when initialized)
url.branch
# master
url_with_branch.branch
# branch-besides-master
Getting the path
url.path
# lib/github_url.rb
Development
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup
to install dependencies. Then, run rspec
to run the tests. You can also run bin/console
for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install
. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb
, and then run bundle exec rake release
, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem
file to rubygems.org.
