ImportRb
Gem to experiment with namespace on read semantics.
Installation
Install the gem and add to the application's Gemfile by executing:
$ bundle add import_rb
If bundler is not being used to manage dependencies, install the gem by executing:
$ gem install import_rb
Usage
Consider this file sample.rb
:
class Alpha
def speak = "alpha hath spoken"
end
class Beta
def speak = "beta hath spoken"
end
class Gamma
def speak = "gamma hath spoken"
end
You can import specific constants from a file into your file:
import [:Alpha, :Beta], from: 'spec/fixtures/sample.rb'
You can import into the global namespace or into another constant:
class SomeClass; end
module SomeModule; end
SomeClass.import [:Alpha, :Beta], from: 'sample.rb'
SomeModule.import [:Alpha, :Beta], from: 'sample.rb'
You can also import a constant and give it another name:
import [:Alpha.as(:Alif), :Beta], from: 'spec/fixtures/sample.rb'
Development
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup
to install dependencies. Then, run rake spec
to run the tests. You can also run bin/console
for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install
. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb
, and then run bundle exec rake release
, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and the created tag, and push the .gem
file to rubygems.org.
