Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'without'

And then execute:

Or install it yourself as:

Usage

  belongs_to :user
end

# all bookmarks with a user_id that doesn't belong to any user in the database
Bookmark.without_a(:user)
Find broken polymorphic associations
class Photo < ActiveRecord::Base
  belongs_to :subject, polymorphic: true
end

# all photos of castles with a subject_id that doesn't belong to any castle in the database
Photo.without_a(:subject, subject_type: "Castle")
Find has_many associations with none
class Post < ActiveRecord::Base
  has_many :comments
end

# all posts with no comments
Post.without_any(:comments)

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake test to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
